Physical Changes

If you look at a candle when it melts, it goes through a physical change.  A physical change is when somethings changes but it's the same object.  We did an experiment today and we tried to melt styrofoam but it didn't work.  We tried with bowls that had a plastic surrounding it.  We tried cups, and small pieces but it didn't work still.  We poured nail polish remover over it but it didn't work.  We even poured gasoline but it still wouldn't work.  If we got a different kind of nail polish remover and a different kind of styrofoam I think it would work.

This experiment was also going through a chemical change.  It's when an object changes and can't go back.  When we played with it was warm because the water Mommy used was warm.  We could make all kinds of shapes.  I made the biggest necklace with it.  You could stretch it, make shapes, tear it and then put it back together.  It was fun!

Alex's Worst Day with an Ear Problem

This is me at the hospital getting my ear checked.  It had a terrible problem and I had to have antibiotics but I am almost done the bottle now.

This is me eating a popsicle because I couldn't go to the Santa Parade.  I am watching Race to the Edge and it was a yummy, green popsicle!

The Hiding Place

Corrie Ten Boom invited some Jewish people into their hiding place in their house so that the guards outside wouldn't get them.  One day Corrie Ten Boom was sick and she had a dream that there were soldiers coming in but when she woke up she said to herself, "I didn't plan a drill.  What if it isn't a drill and what if the soldiers are here."  Soldiers came into her room and they said, "Where are the Jewish"  and they said, "Where are the ration cards" and she said, "I don't know what you're talking about".  They took her downstairs and put her by the wall and put her on a chair.  Corrie Ten Boom and her family were taken to a prison.  When they got to a prison she had to give them everything she had.  Her father died in prison and so did her sister.  They brought her to a cell and when they put her in there were people with her so she could talk to them.  When the guard took her out, she went to another place where she wasn't allowed to talk.  When she got out of prison, she had been in for many months.  When she got out of prison she had to get on a train and go to another jail where she had to work harder.  When she got out she told people about God and she became a missionary.  Corrie was really strong in a believer of God.  She taught a soldier about God.  I think she did amazing stuff in her life.  What was exciting was in prison she got the gospels, Matthew, Mark, Luke and John.

Alex's Blast Fun Week

These are our new chickens.

This is us on a bike ride.  I was really fast.

This is me and my brother, Jordan, at crazy hair night at Awana.

This is us at Halloween with the Wells.  We had a movie and candy.

This is us at Reader's Theater.  We had to act and say lines.  We got to play with play dough if we were bored.

This is us doing a science experiment.  We watched hydrogen peroxide come out blue from the soda can.

This is me with my crystals.  I put hot water and rocks and a poisonous powder and it made crystals.

This is me baking.  We're making cookies to make the periodic table of elements.
